Education and Real Life Challenges.

In contemporary times, almost as a cultural practice, education has been elevated to the level of an initiation rite into the modern world. With the aid of formal educational training, people acquire the skills of reading and writing. It is obvious that literacy, the ability to read and write, has become a requisite for coping with numerous challenges of modern times. As a strategy for ensuring that no child is denied the opportunity of acquiring formal education, not sending a child to school is a criminal offence in some parts of the world, especially in the West. In addition, some governments assist their citizens to acquire formal education by either subsidizing the cost or making it available at no cost (at the basic level, at least).
It is impossible to fit into the modern times if one does not go to school. Consequently, education is a necessity, not a luxury. People's attitude to education in contemporary time appears to suggest, in fidelity to Platonism, that it is better to be unborn than to be uneducated. The demand for education in different parts of the world is unarguably on daily increase. People make numerous sacrifices to acquire education. Parents are willing to give all they have in order to see their children through school. Some people travel to foreign countries in order to acquire quality educational training. Acquiring formal education has become one of the greatest priorities in life today.

However, despite the wide acceptance formal education has gained all over the world, one of the most significant questions about education that is often not asked is, "what is the relevance of education to practical life?' In other words, to what extent is education helpful in addressing practical life challenges? This question needs to be asked because the expected impacts of education are absent is the life of many educated people. One of the factors that speak very eloquently on this is that education has continuously remained unable to improve the standard of living of numerous graduates.

It is imperative to remark that education is a means to an end, but not an end in itself. The implication of this is that education is a process that leads to the making of a product. The process is incomplete without the product. It is the product that gives value to the means. The quality of the process can be inferred from the quality of the product. As a means, education is incomplete without the end of the process. This end is the purpose it (education) is designed to serve (under ideal situation). Let us justify our claim that the expected impacts of education are absent is the life of many educated people by examining a very sensitive aspect of life of educated people, their finances.

How many educated people are truly financially successful? Most graduates struggle all through life to make ends meet, but to no avail. There are numerous people who graduated from tertiary institutions (even at the top of the class), but who are far below many people with lower educational training (academic intelligence and scholarly ability) than theirs in the ladder of financial success. Perhaps, financial struggles and crises are worse among educated people. Most educated people struggle all through their working years merely to make ends meet, but to no avail, and end as liabilities during their retirement.

The inability of education to assist graduates in managing real life challenges is rooted in the fact that most people are ignorant of the purpose of education. Why do we go to school? Why should people go to school? What is the purpose of education? What is the rationale of education? What are the objectives of education? Why should parents send their children to school? Education is one of the most abused or, rather, misunderstood human experiences. Unless the purpose of education is understood and clarified, the continuity of its abuse (by most people) will remain inevitable. Many people go to school for the wrong reasons. In addition, most parents send their children to school for the wrong reasons. Most people have erroneous conceptions about the objectives of education.

It is imperative to remark that this problem is rooted in the fact that the major incentive for going to school in the earliest days of its inception in different parts of the world was that it was a ticket to prosperity. This was possible then because employment opportunities abound for educated people then. But things have changed, and very significantly. In most parts of the world today, there is high level of unemployment among educated people. Thus, education does not guarantee financial success anymore. In fact, education has become a major cause of poverty, considering the fact that it has no provision for instilling the knowledge of wealth creation principles in students.

It is high time the purpose of education is reconsidered. The idea of going to school in order to acquire certificate should be denounced, if the training will improve the life of educated people. The idea of going to school in order to prepare for gainful employment should also be denounced because there are limited employment opportunities for unlimited graduates. If school prepares graduates for employment, but there are limited employment opportunities for unlimited graduates, it means that school prepares students for unemployment. This is why the conception that school merely prepares students for gainful employment is unacceptable.

The ideal purpose of education is to facilitate an integral development of the human person - the intellectual, moral, physical, social, spiritual, psychical and psychological dimensions of man. Going to school should facilitate the optimum development of all the aspects of the human person. An ideal educational system should not isolate any aspect of man in the training process, nor consider some aspects more important than others. Anything short of this is an aberration, and is unacceptable.

Every educational process should be able to assist students to develop their latent potential. Any educational process that does not fulfil this objective is useless. When the mind is developed, it is able to identify and solve problems for humanity and, consequently, be compensated with reward. Money is merely the reward for solving problems. Any graduate who cannot solve problems in the society lacks the capacity for wealth creation. This is a fact most graduates are ignorant of.

Education will assist graduates to become happy and fulfilled in life if it is structured to facilitate the optimum development of their minds. If this is done, education will equip graduates with the requisite skills to survive the economic battles and challenges of real life. It is very painful to remark that education has remained unable to serve practical purpose because most of the things the school system teach students are things they do not need to survive in the real life. In other words, most students spend years in school learning things that will not be useful to them when school days are over. The crux of this deficiency in the educational system is that the people who are most concerned in the educational sector are ignorant of its existence.

One of the key objectives of education is empowerment. If the educational system is restructured to achieve this purpose, graduates will become assets, but not liabilities, no matter the circumstances. Such an educational process will assist students to create jobs if they are unable to get jobs when they become graduates. As earlier remarked, education is a process, and every process is incomplete without a product. The quality of a product is the most reliable standard for ascertaining the quality of the process that produced it. There is urgent need to restructure the educational system to ensure that that the training it instills in students adequately empowers them to effectively confront life challenges, especially when school days are over.

Despite the fact that the consequences of the deficiencies of the educational system in its present form accounts for the ugly experiences of most graduates in the real life, the government has continuously demonstrated increasing incompetence in addressing this challenge. Consequently, it has become obvious that graduates who conscientiously desire a bright, refreshing and happy life must acquire Supplementary Education on their own before their school training will have the desired effect in their life. It also implies that students should also go beyond what they are taught in the class if they are sincerely passionate about happy in the real world (I.e life after school).

Society should come forward to establish coaching centers for underprivileged.

Society should come forward to establish coaching centers for underprivileged students who are meritorious but not financial afford costly coaching for various comparative exams like JEE , CA, NEET , UPSC.

There are many trusts and societies running schools, degree colleges, engineering colleges as their social projects. But getting good job n future growth is not possible without higher education from a very good institution and getting admission in such institutions like It , nit etc n medical colleges very difficult until and unless get regular coaching from famous coaching classes by paying hefty money.

New jobs shrinking its need of the hour to provide such facilities to our such brothers and sisters so that they also get proper education and make their future . Mr Anand is great examples, he shown the world that students from poor background can achieve the targets if equal opportunity is given.

Instead of giving reservations one should be made competitive n capable, it will enhance their confidence and moral and it will go on.

If some of students are inclined towards some other activities like art and craft , sports , music and dance or so many professionals courses also having opportunities may be provided trading and coaching so that they can make their career their are many good institutions like Nift , Nid, sept, etc. so I appeal everyone who like to come forward to think about the same initiate in their own or jointly with like minded people .

Moral Education In School Is Need Of The Hour?

We need to teach students about making the right moral choices and the importance of a value system as the basis for their decision making in life. By introducing these values in the curriculum, through classroom studies, during assemblies and other school activities, Times NIE teachers and principals believe that the purpose of educating students will be achieved.

Nurtures Good Character
The foundation to good character — or “moral intelligence” — consists of seven core virtues: empathy, conscience, self-control, respect, kindness, tolerance, and fairness. These ultimately form the student’s character and are the principles they will use to direct the course of their lives long after.

Teaches How to Think and Act Right: In these troubling times, it’s crucial that every child knows the difference between right and wrong.

Teaches Life Skills: Moral IQ comprises skills needed to protect a student’s, life such as resolving conflicts, empathizing etc.

Creates Good Citizens: The most important measure of a nation is not its gross national product, its technological genius, or its military might. It is the character of its people. Moral intelligence consists of  virtues that are the bedrock of good citizenship and responsible living.

Counters Temptations: Moral Intelligence gives kids the power to counter outside and inside vices so they do what’s right. It’s what helps them navigate through the ethical challenges!

Prevents Cruelty: Moral science teaches students on important skills like controlling anger, learning tolerance, using self control etc. These skills are needed in all-life arenas.

Shapes Moral Destinies: Moral growth is an ongoing process that will span the course of student’s lifetime. But the habits and beliefs of Moral Intelligence  instilled in them now will become the ethical foundation they will use forever.
It is what will greatly decide our moral destinies and what will be our greatest legacy.

The need for Moral Education

Education is only complete when it leads to all round development of the individual, which encompasses not only mental but also moral development. Moral education influences the social thinking of the individual and makes him/her distinguish between what is right and what is wrong. Moral education is a basic need for modern times where one is fast witnessing a degeneration of moral values. Moral education is important as it teaches diversity, tolerance, mutual respect and pluralistic values.

The word moral comes from a Latin root (mos, moris) and means the code or customs of a people, the social glue that defines how individuals should live together.

Moral values are values that express ideas about the good life. As such, concern for the moral virtues, such as honesty, responsibility, and respect for others, is the domain of moral education.

Since young people readily and unconsciously assimilate all types of influences, good or bad, if they do not have proper guidance, it is important that society provides them with a type of education that will make them acquire sound religious and moral principles, and also develop appropriate attitudes and values that will help them to make good choices and decisions in their adulthood.

Moral education, then, refers to helping children acquire those virtues or moral habits that will help them individually live good lives and at the same time become productive, contributing members of their communities.

In this view, moral education should contribute not only to the students as individuals, but also to the social cohesion of a community. A moral education system must begin by defining the morals which are most important for not only the individual but for the society as a whole.

The system must be designed as such that the individual at a formative stage should distinguish to differentiate between what is good and what is bad. Here practical learning should take precedence over bookish learning. The environment in which people live has always influenced patterns of behaviour, attitudes, actions, beliefs, values and ethics.

There is need for schools to encourage the youth to understand why people do one thing and not another. They should be able to make choices in order to become ethically mature adults. They should be assisted to learn how to take a position and consider facts relevant about a moral issue.

The study of morality is vital because we live in a world of rapid change where there are various cultures coming into conflict, in which people are not guided by a single code of ethics but by many different values and rules. The differences are often not easily reconciled; and, in fact, may be irreconcilable.

It is important to understand the nature of these differences, as most discussions and debates about morals address them.

The socio-cultural changes like transition from joint family to nuclear family system, excessive competition, parental expectations, commercialization of education, negative impact of media, misuse of information technology, globalization, consumerism etc. are putting immense pressure on children, families and schools leading to distortion of values.

If effectively implemented, Moral Education will equip learners with tools of judgement in various situations leading to making responsible choices and decisions. Therefore, moral education should be an integral part of the school and college curriculum.

Importance of moral education

Students are the future of our country.  The future of our country depends on the moral values imparted to them in their student life. Moral lessons should be properly taught among students in schools and colleges.

It is the duty and responsibility of the teacher to impart moral based values in order to develop moral qualities such as humility, truthfulness, honesty, courtesy, tolerance, sacrifice etc among the youth. It will help in developing positive social attitudes in new generation which prompt them to raise their voice against social evils.

The harmonious coexistence of different ideologies in society requires respect for moral and ethical values. Value education inculcates these virtues in a systematic manner.

Morality is essentially the knowledge of knowing what is right and what is wrong.  Only with morality we can preserve our sense of humanity and empathy for others’ sorrows while at the same time we can retain our sense of altruism for others.

Water crisis in India could further worsen bank NPA problem: Report

Water problems could push the non-performing assets of banks higher as many lenders have loan exposure in sectors where there are risks to water resources, says a report.
At a time when the banking sector is grappling with mounting NPAs, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) report released Wednesday said water risks could pose further "liquidity constraints" on the strained balance sheets of banks.

Launched with the Indian Banks' Association (IBA), the WWF-India report 'Hidden Risks and Untapped Opportunities: Water and the Indian Banking Sector' provides evidence for why water presents a material risk for banks in India, particularly how water risks could lead to stranded assets in the power and agriculture sectors, two sectors that account for the highest gross credit exposure of Indian banks.

According to the report, close to 40 per cent of the gross credit exposure of Indian banks is in sectors where water risks are significant.
Citing NITI Aayog's observation, it said, the current water crisis in the country is its worst ever.

"With water being a shared resource, what the country requires is a comprehensive and sustainable water management plan by various stakeholders," the report said.

While banks are exposed to the risks of water as lenders to businesses, it also places them in a unique position to influence businesses to proactively handle various water related risks, including using WWF's Water Risk Filter and enabling flow of capital towards solutions which address such risks, the report added.

Vocational trading is very important in Schools and College. Every one emphasized on it.

We are having mental block and not give very much value vocational training as we think that engineering and degree courses are having more value.

For getting skilled and workable workforce our education system should focus on it. Secondly our Colleges and University are focused to purely formal academic curriculum whereas practical training is very basic or just a formality. Lab equipment’s are very old, no new introduction, no innovative process. Universities and Institutions should have partnership in Research & Developments for their products and requirements. It should be their Research Centre, Professors having lots of knowledge and ideas can be properly utilized. They can give chance to students for better exposer, fees etc. for their higher education can be compensated. Industry won’t have hire permanent people for Research & Developments. It will be win situation for all whether it is industry or institution Professors and students.

Government should encourage the same to make India research, innovation and Research & Development hub.  It will have multiple impact on our economic growth. We shall be able to retain our talented pool. We shall be able to produce more technical advanced plant and machinery, less dependability on import. Our manufacturing industries will grow more and our industries will get cost effective advanced technical equipment economical viable, if manufactured in India. It is only possible we create innovative atmosphere in our institutions and it should be from school level to university. If we compare patents recd globally we are far behind. If really want to become world leader and economic power, we have to focus from ground level for innovations.

Super 40

I am pleased to share my noble initiative of Super 40, getting inspired by Mr. Anand of Super 30. I initiated the same in Agarwal Vidhya Vihar School, Surat four years back during my president ship, created a class of 40 students out of 240 from class 8th onwards, a separate section of 40 students who are willing to go for it or reputed Engineering College, majority of students are from lower or middle class who can’t afford expensive private expensive coaching classes. We hired experienced, but young and passionate teachers for specific math’s, physics and chemistry and they started working on these students result of this initiation out of 17 students 8 students cracked 90% plus marks in its attempt. It is 50% result which is considered to be excellent and it was 1st batch and we hope with the continuous efforts, it can be 100% in future.

I always strongly believe that education is not for a sale, every institution should utilize its resources in academic, sports and co-curricular development of its students. Every one great potential but to give them right direction and opportunity, it is our responsibility and duty who ever involved in education institutions.

14. Improved sleep: Just like the improved health and fitness and every other factors, having a peaceful sleep for at least 8 hours a days is important. Research studies have noted a positive link between a better sleep and involvement in sports activities. Getting proper rest to the body just like relaxing your mind can help students to focus better, avoid illness and stay healthy.

15. Develop good life long habits: School days are the time when students tend to develop bad habits and start being in wrong relationships. However, keeping themselves busy with sports and academics gives them lesser free time to reckon and walk the disruptive path. The love and passion for sports would help students to develop good food habits and make exercise a part of their routine to stay fit. The discipline they earn during their sports phase helps them to refrain from any bad deeds which help them to grow up as good social beings.

School authorities can plan healthy competitions among students to evaluate where they stand and give away prizes for their achievements to keep them motivated. Let them taste success and failures right from their childhood which enables them to be good individuals with sportsman spirit.

When you say about including sports in school curriculum, it need not always be a supervised and well guided one always. It is better to form a group of students who have passion in certain sports skills and guide them to become good athletes.

However, not every student may like the pressure of being guided in their leisure activities. Let them play sports with minimal guidance just to ensure that they are safe but give them the freedom to form their own team, rules and just play for fun.
